Kasey Buckner Receives Career Achievement Award
Congratulations to Kasey Buckner, this year’s recipient of the Donna Carnall Career Achievement Award.
Many of you know Kasey from his many years of involvement in the local, state, and national Association of Health Underwriters. Kasey is a former president and long-time board member of the Fort Worth chapter who has been recognized over the years with several Outstanding Merit Awards from the Texas Association, including three for legislative excellence. The association would not have been the same without him.
The Donna Carnall Career Achievement Award is the highest and most prestigious honor the Fort Worth Association of Health Underwriters can bestow upon a member. It was created as a way of honoring our own Donna Carnall for her many achievements and is presented to individuals who have, over a period of time, been ongoing contributors of their time and talents to our association and to the insurance industry as a whole. Please help us congratulate this year’s very deserving recipient, Kasey Buckner, and thank him for his many years of service to our association.
The awards ceremony was held on December 13th, 2012 at FWAHU’s monthly membership meeting. Kasey’s mom and sister were in attendance to see him win the award.

Kasey Buckner is a partner of Granite Financial Group, Inc., and Granite Benefits, Inc., of Keller, Texas, where he also lives. He began his career writing insurance in the Medicare and Long Term Care fields. Over several years he expanded his practice to include financial planning and investment advisory services, attaining his Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses. Kasey has always assisted his clients in a comprehensive manner, helping them with goal-oriented advice, where products fit the goal.
Early in his career Kasey was introduced to the Association of Health Underwriters at a monthly FWAHU luncheon. With some “encouragement” by board members he joined the local board soon after. During his tenure on the board, Kasey served in several positions (sometimes simultaneously) including ten years as Legislation Chair. He was also honored to serve as President for the 2004-05 chapter year. Kasey has participated in state and national events and activities, and still does. He has been honored five separate times with the Texas Association of Health Underwriters’ Outstanding Merit Award – one for Newsletter, one for Technology, and three times for Legislative Excellence. Kasey maintains an active role in state and federal politics for our Association – this year alone, on behalf of both the state and federal PACs, he has personally delivered over $10,000 of PAC donations to local campaigns. He jointly works with TAHU and NAIFA-Texas to keep area elected officials aware of pertinent insurance issues.
With regard to his involvement in the Association of Health Underwriters, Kasey believes it has provided some of the finest career lessons he has ever learned. “You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give,” is a famous quote he often relates to his involvement.
“Being in an environment of professionals who view each other as colleagues, not competition, builds confidence, knowledge, and character that would be otherwise unobtainable if one were to endure this business alone. Every participant therein has been part of any successes I have experienced thus far. And I look forward to many more years of shared successes with my colleagues.”
